Leadership Workshop: The Puzzle of Dynamics

Date: Monday - February 06, 2012
Time: 9:00 AM to 3:30 PM
Location: PNAIS Office, Seattle, WA

Who Should Attend?

Current and aspiring leaders who would like to build skills, knowledge as well as share a transformative professional growth experience with a small group of group of colleagues from across the PNAIS region.

Please note: Due to the nature of this workshop, registration is limited to 20 participants.

Workshop Description
The Puzzle of Dynamics: What’s Underneath What’s Going On?
It’s all interpersonal and it’s going on all the time: the tangle of relationship and group dynamics pervades every aspect of work. Ahead of trying to communicate meaning, or introduce change, or negotiate agreements is understanding the emotion and dynamic in front of us – awareness we can use to design messages, timing, and approach. Using FIRO theory as a framework, and weaving in the new research about emotion from neuro- and behavioral science, we will build new awareness of the tangle of what’s going on underneath the dynamic and practice working with it – rather than against it – to communicate and engage others.

Leaders will come away with:
  • An expanded understanding of why people might respond the way they do, particularly during times of stress
  • A model for identifying communication and work group dynamics in areas like problem solving, decision-making, response to change, and conflict
  • Tools for shaping the interaction of the work group
  • Practice in constructing productive communication, particularly for change and transition
