Get it Done! Strategies for Turning Social Media Goals Into Reality
You and your team have a job to do and a few burning goals in mind for the year. Join ISM’s Chip Snowden and finalsite’s Lorrie Jackson as they show you how to transform your lofty goals into actionable steps.

Topics include
Marketing 101, social media case studies from across the globe, networking opportunities for your area (admission, development, marketing), and a final wrap-up with time for questions and answers.

Bring one of your office's pressing problems and develop strategies to address it. You will leave with a set of concrete tasks to implement in your school. Don't miss out!!

Tentative Workshop Agenda
8:30 – 9:00am:

9:00 - 9:30am: Introductions/welcome/overview

9:30 - 10:30am: Marketing Essentials - Identify who your clients are. Be clear about what it is you want to tell people -- both current and potential families. Understand the communication vehicles and how you can best use them.

10:30 - 10:45am: Break

10:45 - 11:45am: Social Media Case Studies - How are schools taking goals like yours and accomplishing them using social media tools?

11:45am - 12:45pm: Lunch

12:45 - 1:45pm: Affinity Group Discussions – How are your colleagues accomplishing similar goals using social media and other marketing tools?

2:00 – 3:00pm: Talk about what you learned and how to use these strategies to address your pressing problem and a final opportunity to return to the "big picture view" of your challenges.

Facilitators: Chip Snowden (ISM) and Lorrie Jackson (finalsite)

Chip joined ISM in 1993, bringing with him 20 years of experience in private-independent school administration. Chip has conducts ISM workshops on a variety of topics including marketing, annual giving, summer programs, heading a small school, and parent relations. Chip brings a wealth of hands-on experience to his work at ISM. As Head of Fort Worth Academy, Chip helped annual giving revenues double over a two-year period and positioned the school for a capital campaign. As the Head of Wayne Country Day School, Chip was instrumental in taking the school from a basic letter-based solicitation to a face-to-face campaign, which raised $400,000 over three years. In addition, he took steps to build communication by instituting a parent newsletter with a Head's column. Chip was also involved with parents while directing advancement efforts at St. Paul's Episcopal School.

Lorrie Jackson is Communications Manager for finalsite, which she joined after serving as the Director of Communications and Marketing at Lausanne Collegiate School (TN). At Lausanne, Lorrie was responsible for the school's internal and external communications/marketing efforts such as the school's Web site, ad campaign, electronic communications and alumni magazine. A frequent writer/presenter on school marketing and technology issues, Lorrie is a member of the NAIS 21st Century Curriculum/Technology Task Force. She has worked in both independent and public schools for the past decade as an administrator, technology integrationist and English teacher.
