Founded in 1967, The Overlake School offers a rigorous college preparatory program of academics, athletics, fine and performing arts and outdoor education, and is committed to fostering diversity, excellence, responsibility, intellectual curiosity and a compassionate community.

Senior culminating project required. 2010-2011 offerings: Advanced Placement classes: 14; honors courses: six. Languages taught: French, Japanese, Latin, Mandarin Chinese, Spanish.
Project Week each spring gives all students opportunities to learn in the field. Service Learning, both local community service and Global Service in Cambodia and Uruguay, is another important program.
Competitive and recreational sports offered, plus a ski bus in winter. Interscholastic sports include basketball, baseball (boys), cross country, golf, lacrosse, soccer, tennis, Ultimate and volleyball (girls).
A wide range of creative and performing arts options are offered, including concert choir, chamber choir, orchestra, concert and jazz bands; dance; performing arts workshop, musical theater, stagecraft and video production; photography, graphic design, drawing, painting, sculpture and metalworking.

Facilities: 13 school buildings, two of them new: the state-of-the-art Technology Language Center (2010) and William C. Armstrong Humanities Building (2009). Now under construction, the Francisco J. Grijalva 5th & 6th Grade Center will open in spring of 2011, and a renovated and expanded Campus Center will open in fall of 2011, completing an ambitious three-year capital campaign. Also recently constructed: visual and performing arts center, two gyms, tennis courts and year-round athletic field. Transportation: available through on-campus bus fleet.

Campus: 75 acres, including pastures, wetlands and forests. Outdoor classroom, fitness course and equipment, hiking/running trails and outdoor sculpture gallery installed in 2009.

Overlake is committed to increasing green practices. A dedicated "green team" provides leadership on improvements and retrofits.

Supplemental programs: Annual Distinguished Lecturer, Writer's Symposium (author visit) and new visiting experts series.
