Profile
The Alexander Dawson School at Rainbow Mountain is a coeducational, nondenominational, independent day school for college-bound students in Early Childhood through Grade Eight.

Earning a citation for educational design excellence from American School and University magazine, the School opened September 2000 with a complete educational vision.

Dawson School is located on a 40-acre site in the foothills of the mountains west of Las Vegas. Dawson offers its students wonderful facilities and great teaching. Devoted to the traditional values of hard work, cooperation, intellectual stimulation, and participation by all, the school provides a rich curriculum. Adhering to the principle of helping students understand the connections between subjects, we use the desert and the many cultures that have come together to make the modern Southwest as objects of investigation. Our facilities and instructors allow our students to explore their potential in the arts, in athletics, in academics, and as human beings.

Built at a cost of more than $35 million, our campus includes an Early Childhood Education Center (ECEC) for four-year-olds through kindergarten. Our ECEC facility houses four classrooms with low teacher-to-student ratios. Students are given the opportunity to shine and grow their unique talents.

The Lower School (first thru fourth grade) and Upper School (fifth thru eighth grade) are taught in state-of-the-art classroom buildings. Each class is designed for specific student-to-teacher instruction and contact, with student size maximizing both social activities and educational instruction.

Every student has access to a stunning 18,000 book library, a prestigious kitchen providing healthy food including a 300 person dining room and performance space.

Studios for painting, ceramics, woodworking and 3D sculpting and a beautiful music building with recital hall allow students to immerse themselves in the world of arts. Students and teachers have access to over 300 computers, including a full publishing center allowing students to produce posters, news print and books with bindings. Three full-size playing fields and a glorious gym allow participation for all in sports. After school activities are pre-planned and designed by our After School Activities Director, allowing age appropriate activities for every child. The facilities are second-to-none in the region.
